last boss
hello internets
this is a companion piece to ’simple city’, following some of the same themes as before.
long form images aren’t really the best to show on screens (without having the need to scroll down) and so i’ve included some detail pics, which you can view after the ol’ jump….
just like the last piece, part of the impetus for this was riding the TTC (our public transit). a girl was reading the latest Harry Potter, totally absorbed in her own world. I wanted to keep this top half relatively calm and peaceful (with only a suggestion of tension), in contrast to…
…the last boss.
it’s kind of interesting seeing where people get their inspirations from. i’m a big fan of Fumito Ueda, a game designer responsible for Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. both of which are some of the best examples of ‘Art’ in video games. if Simple City was a tribute to ” The Little Prince’ than maybe Last Boss is a little love note to Ico.
and thats about it! whats in store for the future?
1- one more piece in this series (for now)
2 – the start of a new superdraw inspired series and…
3- band posters and albums. oh! and…
4- entering a bunch of competitions.
oh the fun! bye for now! don’t forget to water your plants in the hot weather.

Ah, Rey.
Your monsters are consistently the best, you know!
The falling rocks from the top right corner tie in beautifully to the theme of IMPENDING DOOM. Brilliant!
hawhaw- thanks Irma. How have you been, by the by?
re. the rocks at the top right corner, i kind of wanted the image to ‘loop’ kind of like how if pac-man exits screen right, he reappears on the left side.
Ha ha!
Screen looping!
Only you, Rey. Only you.
I have been pretty good, thanks! I think we should have a little reunion drink when I get back to oakville, and you can fill me in on the harsh realities of the post-grad world, even if they are not true.
I want to be so scared that I won’t sleep that night!
PS, HEY, THIS IS TOTALLY FOR YOU.
MONSTER PARK.
what the…deuce?
GEEZ.
